Drishti Studio ("we", "our", "us") is a macOS application for screen recording and video editing. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

The Short Version

Drishti Studio is designed with privacy at its core. Your recordings, projects, and files stay entirely on your Mac. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data or content on our servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Screen recordings and project files — these never leave your device
  • Browsing or usage activity within the app
  • Personal files, documents, or any on-screen content
  • Analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking data

Local Processing

Drishti Studio processes certain inputs, including keystrokes and mouse movements, locally on your device to power features like Auto Zoom. This happens entirely on your Mac. None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Information That May Be Exchanged

Software Updates

Drishti Studio uses Sparkle to check for app updates. When checking for updates, the following non-personal information is sent to our update server:

  • Current app version
  • macOS version
  • System architecture (e.g., Apple Silicon or Intel)

This information is used solely to serve the correct update. We do not log, store, or track this data. You can disable automatic update checks in the app preferences.

Payment and Licensing

When you purchase a license, payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not directly collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, bank details, etc.). Our payment provider handles this data under their own privacy policy. We receive only:

  • Your email address (to deliver your license key)
  • Transaction confirmation (to validate your purchase)

Support Communications

If you contact us at support@drishtistudio.app, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry.

Data Storage

All app data — recordings, projects, settings, and preferences — is stored locally on your Mac. We have no access to it.

Your license key is stored locally in your system's Keychain.

Third-Party Services

  • Payment Provider — Processes purchases. See their privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
  • Sparkle Update Framework — Open-source update checker. No data is collected beyond what is described above.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal data from any users, this applies universally.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is typically no personal data for us to provide, modify, or delete. If you have purchased a license, you may contact us to request deletion of your email address from our records.
