Troubleshooting

Resolve common permission, input, audio, and export problems in Drishti Studio and send a useful bug report when you need help.

Permissions do not take effect

macOS can keep the old permission state until Drishti Studio is relaunched. After granting or changing a permission, quit Drishti Studio completely and open it again before trying the feature.

Screen RecordingSystem Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording
Required for display, window, and area capture. Enable Drishti Studio, then relaunch it.
CameraSystem Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
Required before a camera device can be used by Drishti Studio.
MicrophoneSystem Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
Required before a microphone can be selected for recording.

Screen recording is denied or unavailable

  1. 1

    Open Screen Recording settings

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.

  2. 2

    Enable Drishti Studio

Turn on the switch next to Drishti Studio if it is listed.

  3. 3

    Relaunch Drishti Studio

Quit the app and open it again so it can read the new permission state.

Drishti Studio is not in the list

Open Drishti Studio and try to start a recording so macOS can request Screen Recording access. Then return to Screen Recording settings. If it still does not appear, relaunch the app and try the request again.

Camera or microphone is missing

  • Check that the device is connected, powered on, and available in another Mac app if it is external.
  • Grant the matching Camera or Microphone permission in System Settings, then relaunch Drishti Studio.
  • Close other apps that may have exclusive use of the device, then reopen the Source picker.
  • For external cameras, check the camera or capture device connection before starting a new recording.

An export fails or is not where expected

  • Make sure the destination drive has enough free space, especially for 4K or ProRes 422 exports.
  • Choose a folder where you have permission to save, then run the export again.
  • Keep Drishti Studio open until the export progress finishes.
  • If one output choice fails, try exporting again with a different codec, resolution, or frame rate to identify whether the setting is involved.
  • The completed file is in the folder you chose in the macOS save dialog.

Report a bug

Use Help in the macOS menu bar, then choose Report a Bug. Drishti opens a pre-filled email to [email protected] so you can describe what happened and the steps that led to it.

  • Include what you expected to happen and what happened instead.
  • Include the capture source, selected audio source, and export settings when they are relevant.
  • If the app crashed, attach the Drishti Studio crash report if you can find it.
