Hide sensitive information in a recording with a timeline track that blurs, pixelates, or highlights a region of the frame.

Hide sensitive information

The Mask track covers a region of the frame for the stretch of the timeline you choose, so an API key, an inbox, or a customer name never reaches the export. Add a mask from the timeline toolbar, then draw and resize it directly on the preview.

Position holds across aspect ratio and layout changes

A mask is anchored to the recording itself, not to the export frame. Change the aspect ratio to 9:16 or 1:1, or switch to a side-by-side camera layout, after adding a mask, and it stays over the same spot with no need to redraw it.

    Add a mask

    Choose Add Blur Mask, Add Pixelate Mask, or Add Highlight Mask from the Mask menu in the timeline toolbar. A pill appears on the Mask track at the playhead in that style.

    Position the region

    Drag directly on the preview to draw the region, then move or resize it to cover exactly what needs to stay hidden.

    Change the style anytime

    Select the mask pill, then pick a different style in the inspector whenever you want.

    Set its duration

    Drag the pill edges on the timeline to cover the stretch where the sensitive content is on screen, then play it back to check the coverage.

Blur and Pixelate never fade

A hiding style that faded in would show the secret for the fade duration, so Blur and Pixelate cut on and off instantly. Highlight is a visual accent rather than a hide, so it fades smoothly.

Review before export

  • Play back the full stretch a mask covers to confirm the region tracks anything that moves, like a scrolling inbox.
  • Use Highlight to draw attention to something, and Blur or Pixelate when the goal is to hide it completely.
  • Widen the mask region slightly beyond the sensitive content so a small movement or scroll does not expose an edge.
